Penhaligon’s scents The Lanesborough for Christmas

2 min read

Wild About Flowers dresses the Regency house at Hyde Park Corner and Penhaligon’s fragrances fill its rooms, with a cream tea and a gifting suite from the perfumer inside.

This Christmas The Lanesborough smells of Penhaligon’s. The British perfumer’s fragrances run through the hotel at Hyde Park Corner from 5 November, timed to meet each guest at the door, while the florist Wild About Flowers dresses the rooms around them. Penhaligon’s has also taken a room of its own inside, as a gifting suite.

Penhaligon’s and Wild About Flowers

The hotel has given its whole festive season to the two names. Wild About Flowers dresses the Regency house as what the hotel calls an enchanted country house, and the hotel means the scent to follow guests from room to room once they are inside.

The house is more than a century older than the perfumer. James Lane, the second and last Viscount Lanesborough, built Lanesborough House in 1719 as a country mansion in the village of Knightsbridge, and in 1825 William Wilkins, the architect of the National Gallery, gave it the Greek revival front it keeps today. Penhaligon’s was established in 1870.

The gifting suite is a pop-up shop for the season. It stocks Penhaligon’s seasonal fragrances, candles and gifts chosen for the tree, so a guest can take a little of the hotel’s Christmas home.

A Penhaligon’s cream tea

The Withdrawing Room is the hotel’s living room: a Regency drawing room with hand-painted trompe-l’œil marbling and crystal chandeliers, where residents of Belgravia and Knightsbridge come for lunch, tea and cocktails. For the season Wild About Flowers has dressed it too, and Penhaligon’s serves its own cream tea there.

The tea keeps to the British form. Freshly baked scones come with clotted cream and preserves, and there is a choice of festive teas. Penhaligon’s signature matcha cocktail comes alongside, in William Green, the shade of the perfumer’s own boxes.

Each guest leaves with two Penhaligon’s gift sets, each holding ten samples of the house’s fragrances. The perfumer’s signature fragrance boxes are on sale at the table.

Penhaligon’s at The Lanesborough runs from 5 November 2026 to 6 January 2027. The Penhaligon’s Festive Cream Tea is £77 per person, with two gift sets included.
