The Craft Behind the Room
Get-in at four, show at seven, out when the truck is loaded.
/ About the Role
LIT.ME Events is looking for production and visuals specialists — lighting, sound, video and LED operators, show-callers and staging crew — to build and run the technical side of private events, corporate events and club nights across London.
The work is freelance and booked by the day, or by the job. Most of it is a get-in earlier in the day, a show that runs into the small hours, and a get-out that finishes when the truck is loaded — which is rarely the hour anyone predicted. Some jobs are a full build in a raw space; plenty are a single console, a few bars of light and a sensible PA in a listed room where nothing may be drilled, taped or hung.
We book across lighting, audio, video and LED, show-calling and staging crew. Tell us which of those you actually do, and which you are willing to be a pair of hands on. Client events stay private: no posting from the room, no names, no photographs of guests.
/ Responsibilities
What a job asks of you varies. In practice, the work is:
- Rigging, patching, programming and operating lighting, audio, video, LED, projection or staging
- Taking a job from the plot and the get-in, through soundcheck, to the last cue and the get-out
- Show-calling where the job needs it, and holding the timings when the running order moves
- Building and running live visuals to the music
- Working to a run sheet, and to the venue’s rules on rigging points, noise limiters and curfews
- Fixing it live — power, signal, networking, a dead fixture — while the room carries on
- Leaving the venue as you found it, whatever time the night ends
/ Candidate Profile
Tell us what you have run, not what you have been near. These are the things we actually look at:
- Hands-on experience across lighting, live sound, video and LED, projection or staging
- Confident on at least one desk we would recognise — grandMA, Avolites, ChamSys, a digital audio console, Resolume or a media server
- A list of shows you have delivered, with venue and scale
- The safety side: working at height, rigging points, power and load, LOLER inspections, and IPAF or PASMA where you have them
- Your own PPE and blacks, and steel toecaps
- Public liability insurance, and CIS or self-employed status sorted
- Availability on evenings, weekends, overnights and through December
- Based in London or able to get here reliably, with the right to work in the UK
/ What We Offer
A profile on the site, with your own website and social links on it, in front of the private and corporate clients who come to us.
We bring you the work, and you agree the fee in writing before you take anything on.
