LIT.ME live musician performing at a private event in Mayfair, London

Live Musician / Ensemble

London

/ About the Role

LIT.ME Events is looking for live musicians and ensembles to play private parties, weddings and corporate events across London: saxophonists, pianists, singers, string players, and acts that play alongside a DJ.

The work is freelance and booked event by event. Bookings range from a single set to a full evening — a pianist through a drinks reception, a saxophonist over dinner, a trio that plays until the room empties — and some turn into a regular slot at the same venue. You get the brief before you accept it: venue, running order, what the client wants at each point of the night, and any songs they have asked for.

On the night you take direction from the event lead. Speeches overrun, dinner lands late, a room fills an hour after it was meant to, and we expect you to move with that rather than play to the schedule you were handed. Client events stay private: no posting from the room, no names, no photographs of guests.

/ Responsibilities

What a night asks of you varies. In practice, the job is:

  • Playing to the brief — background music through drinks and dinner, or a set that lifts the room later on
  • Soundchecking and setting up before guests arrive
  • Bringing your own instrument, backline and spares: leads, batteries, reeds, strings
  • Agreeing positioning, levels and timings with the event lead, the venue and the sound engineer
  • Keeping to your set times and to the venue’s curfew
  • Dressing for the event — black tie, all black, or whatever the client has specified
  • Taking requests when they suit the room, and declining them politely when they do not

/ Candidate Profile

You do not need a following. These are the things we actually look at:

  • Several years playing professionally, ideally at private events, hotels or members’ clubs
  • Enough repertoire to cover a full evening without repeating yourself — jazz, soul and contemporary material, with Greek and wider Mediterranean useful
  • The judgement to sit under conversation at dinner and lift the room after it
  • Your own PA for venues that have none, PAT-tested equipment and public liability insurance
  • Availability on evenings, weekends and through December
  • Based in London or able to get here reliably, with the right to work in the UK
  • Duos and acts that play alongside a DJ — sax, percussion, violin — are welcome

/ What We Offer

A profile on the site, with your own website and social links on it, in front of the private and corporate clients who come to us.

We bring you the work, and you agree the fee in writing before you take anything on.
