The Mykonos name has taken two floors at 15 Berkeley Street, where its designers set out to carry the island over in colour, light and a central bar rather than rebuild the beach club in Mayfair.
Nammos made its name on Psarou beach in Mykonos, where the restaurant and the sand are the same place. Its London address has no beach at all. Nammos London has opened at 15 Berkeley Street in Mayfair, set across two floors.
Psarou beach without the beach
The Mykonos original sits on Psarou, and the group has since taken the name to Dubai, Cannes, Limassol and Baja Sardinia, with Doha, New York and Montenegro now among the addresses it lists. Berkeley Street runs up from Piccadilly to Berkeley Square.
Elastic, the architecture and interiors studio founded by Ria Xenou and Alexandros Xenos, says it chose not to recreate the beachside restaurant and set out instead to carry over its feeling. Its palette uses soft whites taken from Cycladic villages, deep blues for the sea and terracotta to ground the rooms.
Pebble lights over an island bar
Two details tie the London room to its origins. One is the Pebble lighting, a bespoke collection that Elastic describes as a returning signature of the Nammos identity: fixtures shaped like stones worn smooth by the sea, hung above the dining room to cast a low, ambient light. The other is the bar, which the studio placed at the centre of the restaurant as a lit island beneath a sculptural canopy, framed by curves and warm natural materials.
Elastic intends the restaurant to gather around that bar, so that dinner reads as one shared room rather than a floor of separate tables.
Greek classics and a set-price lunch
Nammos describes the cooking as Greek classics reworked with an international outlook, with dishes designed to be shared. The restaurant opens at noon every day and runs until 1am from Sunday to Thursday and 2am on Friday and Saturday.
In August it added a business lunch, from £24 for two courses or £29 for three, with a set choice of Mediterranean starters, mains, sides and desserts and wines by the glass chosen by the head sommelier. It runs until 4pm from Monday to Thursday and 5.30pm from Friday to Sunday. The seasonal programme has started too. From 26 October to 1 November the restaurant runs a Halloween set menu with Don Julio 1942 cocktails, building to a Medusa-themed weekend on 30 and 31 October.
An upper floor with its own bar
Nammos offers the whole first floor for exclusive hire, with a dedicated bar and views across Mayfair, for 110 seated or 200 standing. The restaurant also lists its main dining area, at 60 seated or 100 standing, and its open kitchen dining area, at 50 seated or 100 standing, with floor plans drawn to the guest count. Smaller dinners have a private dining room for up to eight and a semi-private room that seats 15.
The restaurant has already been taken for brand nights: Loewe celebrated its 180th anniversary at Nammos, and Bulgari held its Icons summer party here. The events team also books client dinners, birthdays, Christmas parties and awards evenings.
