/ About

On the south-east corner of Trafalgar Square, opposite the National Gallery, The Trafalgar St. James occupies a stone-fronted early twentieth-century building once home to the Cunard Steamship Company; its old boardroom appeared on screen in Dr. No and The Ipcress File. Hilton relaunched the hotel under its current name in August 2017 as the first UK property in the Curio Collection, and a 2025 refurbishment added a run of new Spring Garden Suites and refreshed every public room. The ground floor now runs as one open sequence, arrival lounge and Rockwell Bistro & Wine Bar folding into a single space beneath a run of ring-shaped chandeliers.

Rockwell serves globally inspired, locally sourced food by day and turns over to a wine bar by night, with a running order of live music on Thursdays, vintage jazz and swing on Fridays and a guest DJ set most Saturdays. Six floors up, The Rooftop looks straight across the square to Nelson's Column: a canopy-covered terrace with an enclosed glass room and a separate deck, taking parties from an intimate sit-down dinner to a full standing reception under the awning. Down in the basement, Biblio does the opposite trick, a dark, panelled room with deep red banquettes and a long dining table that reads more private members' lounge than hotel function room.

Private hire runs the full spread: Rockwell for a seated dinner or a takeover of the ground floor, the Rooftop (or its smaller Deck and Room) for a reception with a view, Biblio for something more enclosed. The hotel's events team can be reached direct.
