Kudu

Amy Corbin and Patrick Williams ran three South African-inspired restaurants in south London for eight years before closing all of them in September 2025 and bringing the whole operation to a corner site on Moxon Street. Braai, the South African open-fire barbecue, is the centre of it: a grill behind green tile, a counter of stools facing the kitchen, banquette tables along the windows, parquet underfoot and a slatted timber ceiling above. Fabled Studio, who also worked on Core by Clare Smyth, did the interiors — rope across the ceiling for Cape Town's beachside restaurants, plaster-pink walls, and the reds of the Karoo. The MICHELIN Guide lists it for South African cooking.

Above the restaurant sits Smokey Kudu, a cocktail bar of burl wood and wicker pendants that trades later than the dining room, and beside it the private dining room: a single table for twelve, ochre plaster walls hung with leopard photographs, a lit cabinet of glassware at one end. That room is the one space Kudu lets as a published product. The restaurant floor and the bar are arranged through us.

It reads as a restaurant first, warm and low-lit rather than grand, with enough corners to make a table feel private. It suits the dinner where the table is the event: a birthday, or the client evening that wants an open fire at the centre of it.
