/ About
Jamavar occupies a corner of Mount Street, the London home of the restaurant conceived by the family behind The Leela Palaces, Hotels and Resorts. It opened in 2016, earned a Michelin star within its first year, and holds one in the current guide. The name comes from the woven shawls of Kashmir, and the kitchen reads as a journey across the subcontinent: royal dishes from the North, coastal cooking from the South, each plated with precision and restraint.
The rooms match the cooking. Dark timber, marble and gilded metalwork frame a sculptural bar modelled on Indian carved print blocks, while contemporary paintings by Jayasri Burman bring colour to the walls. The ground floor carries a genuine sense of occasion; the lower ground turns more intimate and characterful.
For private events Jamavar offers four distinct spaces, each independently serviced. The ground-floor Dining Room takes exclusive hire for larger gatherings. The Sapphire Room, finished in deep indigo and lit by a window onto a garden, seats up to eight. The Game Room on the lower ground floor seats up to 38 and has its own bar. A small open-air Terrace completes the set.
