Kanishka

Atul Kochhar returned to Mayfair fine dining in 2019 with Kanishka, on Maddox Street a few steps from Regent Street. The kitchen reads India region by region, with a particular eye on the north-east, a part of the country rarely given room on a London menu. The dining rooms are dressed in deep blue panelling, patterned ceilings and bold contemporary portrait canvases, a look that carries the same character from the front bar through to the private rooms downstairs.

The restaurant breaks into a spread of bookable spaces. The Kanishka Bar sits semi-private at the front with access to the street terrace; the Oxford and Regent rooms handle seated dinners and can be joined for up to 35 guests; and the whole floor takes an exclusive buyout of 100 seated or 120 standing. DJs are welcomed on exclusive hire of a full floor or the entire venue, with non-amplified musicians available for smaller rooms.

An events team, printed menus and cloakroom come as standard, which makes it a straightforward room to programme for a celebration or a company dinner where the food does the heavy lifting.
