/ About

Gymkhana opened on Albemarle Street in 2013, a JKS Restaurants project named for the sporting and social clubs of colonial India. It held a Michelin star from 2014 and a second from 2024, becoming London's first two-star Indian restaurant, and reopened in February 2026 after a refurbishment. The dining rooms commit to the club reference: dark wood, ceiling fans, leather banquettes and framed regimental and sporting prints.

Private events run across two floors. Below the restaurant sit two Vaults, each seating up to ten for occasion dining, one of them home to the wine cellar. The lower ground floor, with its own bar, takes up to fifty guests for semi-exclusive hire, and the restaurant in its entirety seats up to ninety-five. A floor above the restaurant, 42 is a separate cocktail lounge with its own entrance and bar, taken for receptions of up to fifty-five standing or intimate dinners of sixteen.

For a music-led evening, 42 is the room to know: it runs a late licence to 2am and takes a DJ on request, while the restaurant bar serves until 1am. Audio-visual equipment is arranged per event rather than fixed in place, so a party can open with cocktails upstairs and carry through to the dining rooms below. Catering comes from the two-Michelin-star kitchen, with tasting and tailored menus and a deep cellar.
