/ About
Fischer's opened on Marylebone High Street in 2014, a Viennese grand café from Chris Corbin and Jeremy King conceived as a corner of early twentieth-century Vienna transplanted to W1. The room is dressed like a family's own café: dark wood panelling, mirrored walls, mosaic tiling, a marble-topped bar, tulip lamps and a wall of pictures, prints and trinkets gathered by the fictional Fischer family on their travels, all under a large hanging clock. It reads as though it has stood on the High Street for a century rather than a decade.
Open from breakfast through to late dinner seven days a week, it serves an Austrian and Central European menu, strong on schnitzel, sausages, strudel and the coffee-and-cake ritual of the Konditorei. The crowd is a Marylebone regular set with a steady seam of recognisable faces, drawn by the ageless setting as much as the cooking. A marble bar runs along one side for aperitifs and after-dinner drinks.
Now part of the Wolseley Hospitality Group, Fischer's is an intimate single-room café rather than a venue of multiple function rooms, but the whole restaurant can be taken for exclusive hire by arrangement. That makes the entire grand-café interior available for a celebration or a private dinner. Enquire for availability.
