/ About
Carlotta is Big Mamma's Marylebone trattoria, opened in May 2023 as a tribute to the Italian families who took their recipes to America — Palermo and Sicily by way of Oakland, New Jersey. The ground floor is unmistakably a Big Mamma room: burgundy leather booths, a skylit ceiling, and walls given over to vintage boxing posters and family wedding photographs, with a Rosso Levanto marble bar just inside the entrance for pre-dinner drinks.
For private hire, the back room seats up to 36 around a single round booth, panelled in warm burl wood beneath a run of mirrored glass. The basement is a different register altogether: a low, arched space in deep teal velvet with black lacquered panther figures either side of the room, better suited to a party than a dinner. Both can be booked on their own, or together with the ground floor for a full buyout of 150.
Chef Armando's kitchen serves Neapolitan and Sicilian classics with an American accent — tartare of Cheshire veal, spaghetti and 'nduja meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo al tartufo — and the restaurant keeps a terrace on Marylebone High Street for daytime sittings.
