/ About
Brasserie of Light is Richard Caring's all-day restaurant inside Selfridges, opened by Caprice Holdings in November 2018. Guests climb a stairwell into a double-height room above Duke Street, where Martin Brudnizki's Art Deco interiors play on light through mirrors of every shape, blue leather banquettes piped in coral and mustard-yellow chairs. An east-facing glass wall floods the room with daylight, and a separate Duke Street entrance keeps it open long after the store has closed.
The room is built around Pegasus, Damien Hirst's 24-foot, crystal-encrusted winged horse, which bursts from the concrete wall with a 30-foot wingspan and flies over a central bar. The kitchen runs from breakfast to late evening on modern European and British dishes, with a cocktail list that nods to the store's history, and the restaurant programmes live DJ nights and seasonal events through the year.
For private occasions the house offers The Pegasus Room, a radiant Art Deco dining room with mirrored walls, polished parquet and sunshine-yellow accents. It takes up to 22 guests at one long table, 24 on rounds, or 30 for a standing reception, from breakfast through to dinner, with menus shaped to the occasion and a dedicated events team.
