DIVE occupies the basement of a Grade II listed building on Blandford Street, the same vaulted coal store that once housed Purl. Under the ownership of Antoine Le Dirat-Giacometti — a French DJ — and designed by Ariel André of the Paris studio Golem, the space opened in June 2026 as something closer to a listening room than a cocktail bar. The brief, 'a concrete block in a velvet glove', reads in every surface: raw concrete arches meet padded walls, floor-to-ceiling carpet made in France, and seating designed to retain the imprint of whoever last sat in it.
The venue divides into two levels. Near the entrance sits The Bar: luminous, amber-lit, with a curved counter, glossy convex mirrors, and velvet stools. Below, reached by a short flight of steps, The Lounge unfolds across a series of vaulted arched recesses. The quart-de-lune tables — bespoke quarter-circle pieces commissioned for the project — seat couples side by side, or combine in sets of two or four for larger groups. One arch has been given over entirely to The Fun Room, a U-shaped velvet chamber that shifts from daybed to dancefloor across the night.
Music is the venue's axis. The DJ booth sits beside bespoke shelves holding the owner's vinyl collection, positioned for seated or standing performance. A bespoke high-fidelity sound system, handcrafted by Berlin specialist Basil Martion, delivers what the room describes as 'velvety and rich' audio — the choice of absorbent and reflective surfaces tuned deliberately for listening. Guest DJs perform Thursday through Saturday, the programme editorially curated rather than commercially driven. For private hire, the whole venue is available on request.

The Lounge
Exclusive HireBelow the bar, reached by a short flight of steps, the lounge occupies a series of vaulted arched recesses — the original coal-store vaults of the Georgian building above. Velvet covers the walls, floors, and upholstered seating, designed to absorb and retain the presence of its guests over time. The DJ booth stands beside shelves of vinyl, set for either seated listening or standing performance. The acoustic environment is carefully tuned: absorbent surfaces flank reflective ones to create a controlled listening room quality that is unusual in a bar setting.
The Bar
Exclusive HireThe entrance-level bar is the brighter of the two zones. A curved counter in glossy concrete runs most of the width of the room, lit from below in warm amber. Convex mirrors catch movement from behind the bar and bend it back across the space. Velvet stools line the front of the counter, and the bespoke quart-de-lune tables — designed to seat couples side by side — are placed throughout. This is where the evening begins.
The Fun Room
PrivateOne of the lounge arches has been claimed entirely for the fun room. Floor-to-ceiling red velvet — walls, ceiling, carpet — wraps the U-shaped space in a single saturated texture. During the early part of the night it functions as a daybed lounge; later, the furniture is cleared and the dancefloor opens. The room is compact by design, intended for groups of eight to twenty rather than the whole venue, though it operates as part of an exclusive hire of the lower level.
