/ About
Constance is Adam Byatt's modern British brasserie on the first floor of Fulham Pier, set into a stand at Craven Cottage beside the Thames. It opened in July 2025 as Brasserie Constance and now trades simply as Constance. The name comes from Constance Spry, the florist and cookery writer behind coronation chicken, and her influence runs from the menu to the room. Lázaro Rosa-Violán designed the interiors, with mirrored walls, Murano chandeliers and a set of everyday ceramics made for the restaurant by six female ceramicists.
The cooking is seasonal and British, led by head chef Charlie Crote alongside Byatt, with a wine list of more than 200 bins. Flo Bar, named after Spry's assistant Florence Standfast, sits beside the dining room with floor-to-ceiling views across the river and a cocktail list drawn from botanicals. A long covered terrace looks over the river.
For private occasions the restaurant and Flo Bar can be taken exclusively, together or apart, with menus set in advance with the kitchen and a tasting before the day. The private dining room at the far end of the restaurant seats ten, its walls and ceiling dressed in textile artwork, and it has its own section of the terrace. The pier closes on some Fulham match days, so dates are worth holding early.
