Hans' Bar & Grill

Hans' Bar & Grill sits on Pavilion Road, the cobbled lane of artisan food shops just off Sloane Square, as the all-day restaurant and bar of the 11 Cadogan Gardens hotel. It is named after Sir Hans Sloane, the physician and collector whose Chelsea estate gave the neighbourhood its street names, and it was designed by Goddard Littlefair. The room reads as bright and grown-up: white fluted timber panelling set against the original yellow-stock brick of a covered former courtyard, pale oak parquet underfoot, skylights overhead, and deep green banquettes paired with bespoke velvet chairs around marble and black-oak tables. The kitchen runs from early breakfasts and weekend brunches through to grill-led dinners and cocktails at the bar.

For private events the restaurant offers two distinct rooms with their own characters. The Wine Room is a glass-fronted cellar lined with an extensive bottle collection, lit by a single ring light over forest-green walls and olive velvet seating, semi-private so guests keep a thread of the main room's energy. The Mirror Room is the showpiece: a glazed conservatory clad floor to ceiling in gilded fretwork and antique mirror, set over a black-and-white chequerboard floor, with a chandelier and dressing-table glamour that suits an intimate celebration or a wedding ceremony.

Enclosed, central and a short walk from Sloane Street, both rooms take well to an evening built around a DJ as readily as a milestone dinner. The Mirror Room's mirrored shell and the Wine Room's snug proportions hold sound and mood at a manageable scale, and the whole restaurant can be given over for a larger party.
