Azzurra

Azzurra is the Aqua Restaurant Group's Italian seafood restaurant on Sloane Street, at the Chelsea end near Sloane Square. The concept is boat-to-table: British seafood from day boats around the coast, cooked with the simplicity of the Amalfi Coast and Sicily. A 16-metre bar runs the length of the room, taking in a raw bar, a cocktail counter and a pizza oven, beneath ceilings hung with woven-rush shell pendants and a sweeping rope-net sculpture that gives the space its coastal character.

The palette is Mediterranean throughout, pale blue, bleached timber and brass, with striped banquettes and a glazed private room set behind the main floor. It reads as a Riviera dining room dropped into Chelsea, lively at the bar and calmer in the restaurant behind it. The kitchen is led by executive chef Alessandro Bay, with oils and salts brought in from Sardinia, Sicily and Tuscany.

For events, Azzurra hires the glazed Amalfi Dining Room for seated dinners and standing receptions, a semi-private section of the main restaurant for larger groups, and the whole venue for exclusive use. Exclusive hire opens the full floor and bar to a reception of up to 200, with in-house menus built around the day's catch and the bar's cocktail list. Enquiries run through the events team.
