/ About
Bluebird has anchored the King's Road since 1997, when Terence Conran turned a Grade II listed 1920s motor garage into one of Chelsea's most recognisable restaurants. The building still carries its origins: it was the home of the car that helped Sir Malcolm Campbell break the land speed record, and the red riveted beams, atrium roof and Art Deco lines remain its signature. Across a single SW3 address it gathers a first-floor restaurant, a glamorous bar, a café, a planted courtyard and five private rooms, serving modern British cooking, English wines and a long cocktail list from breakfast to late.
For private events the range is unusually wide for a neighbourhood restaurant. The intimate end runs to the Mezzanine Room, tucked into the eaves above the restaurant floor, and the ground-floor Bluebird Room with its own Beaufort Street entrance and private bar. The Gallery and Beaufort Rooms each bring a private bar and natural daylight, and combine into the Dining Rooms for larger seated dinners with space for a DJ. The Campbell Room works as a blank canvas for ceremonies and parties, while the whole first-floor restaurant can be taken exclusively for a dinner dance under its listed beams.
The Gallery and combined Dining Rooms are the ones we keep coming back to for music-led nights: two private bars, an atrium ceiling that lifts the sound, and a layout that clears for a dancefloor once dinner is done. The courtyard adds a planted reception space for arrivals before the party moves inside.
