Akub

Akub is chef Fadi Kattan's first London restaurant, opened in January 2023 behind a sage-green shopfront on a quiet Notting Hill side street. He runs it with the entrepreneur Rasha Khouri, and cooks Palestinian recipes through British seasonal produce. The MICHELIN Guide lists it. The drinks follow the food: natural and classic wines from Palestine and Jordan, Taybeh beer, arak, and a short list of cocktails built on apricot leather and pomegranate molasses.

The building is a converted townhouse and it still reads as one. The ground-floor room runs to banquettes in a botanical print, plywood shelving holding Palestinian ceramics and wine, and a stone arch through to the stairs. Behind it sits a covered courtyard under a glass roof, laid with terracotta tiles and set around an olive tree, heated so it holds through the winter. A bar occupies the basement, and the top floor is a mezzanine room with seating around its edge and windows over the street.

Akub takes private events across three of those spaces. The top floor is the one that holds a party, seating thirty or taking fifty for a standing reception. The courtyard and the ground-floor room each hold a table of twelve, which suits a dinner rather than a crowd. There is a catering arm for occasions held elsewhere, and the kitchen runs its own supper-club series through the year.
