Maisons Vivantes, Romain Bourrillon’s family of chef-led London restaurants, plans a fire-led Thai house for spring 2027, reported for the former E&O site on Blenheim Crescent.
The kitchen at AREE will cook Thai food over fire. Maisons Vivantes, the London group founded by Romain Bourrillon, plans to open it in Notting Hill in spring 2027, reportedly in the former E&O at 14 Blenheim Crescent. Its chef is reported to be Karla Knowles, who was head chef at Kiln.
The group has not named a chef for AREE itself. Reports of the opening describe regional Thai cooking over live fire, drawn from Knowles’s travels in Bangkok and northern Thailand, with nose-to-tail cooking and bold flavours.
Knowles is also reported to be behind PAM, the group’s woodfire Thai restaurant in Farringdon, which it listed to open on 22 October. AREE would be her second restaurant with the group.
Maisons Vivantes
Bourrillon founded the group after more than a decade in London’s kitchens and dining rooms. It already runs Cocotte, a rotisserie, and Casa Felicia, a Neapolitan trattoria, and plans a French bistro and wine bar in Soho for December.
The group says each of its restaurants is shaped by the people who run it, with no template. Its kitchens work closely with farmers, fishermen and artisans. Maisons vivantes means living houses, and the group wants restaurants people come back to again and again.
