Autechre, the Rochdale duo who have recorded for Warp since 1992, give a 90-minute live performance in total darkness at Magazine London in North Greenwich on Saturday 24 October 2026. The Hydra presents the night, with Space Afrika and MDX.
Autechre are Rob Brown and Sean Booth, who met in 1987 through Manchester’s graffiti and breakdance scene. They began by trading cassette mixes shaped by electro, hip-hop and acid house.
Warp signed them after “Crystel” and “The Egg” appeared on its Artificial Intelligence compilation. Every Autechre album since has come out on the label. Over the albums that followed, the early melodic techno gave way to abstract music built on software of their own making.
Later work includes the eight-hour NTS Sessions in 2018, the paired albums Sign and Plus in 2020 and a run of live recordings.
The night is a London return in the format the pair now tour. The lights go out for the full 90 minutes, a condition Brown says removes distraction and Booth calls far more immersive.
Space Afrika play live. MDX comes from the Manchester Skam and Gescom circle, which released the duo’s first record under the alias Lego Feet.
