Phoebe Bridgers was born in Pasadena in 1994 and wrote her way out of it: Stranger in the Alps in 2017, then Punisher in 2020, which turned a cult songwriter into the defining voice of a generation of listeners who wanted their sadness precise rather than general. The songs are acoustic in shape and electronic underneath, funny in a way that catches people off guard, and specific to the point of discomfort. She has also worked almost entirely in collaboration: Better Oblivion Community Center with Conor Oberst, and boygenius with Julien Baker and Lucy Dacus, which won three Grammys.
Then she stopped. The hiatus after the boygenius run ended lasted the better part of three years, and 2026 is the return. She also runs her own label, Saddest Factory, which has signed a good deal of the songwriting she is compared to, and she produces other people’s records under it.
The Lost Tour is that return, and both London nights are phone-free: every device goes into a locked pouch on arrival and anyone who gets one out during the show is walked out.
