Shawn Mendes, the Toronto singer who grew from Vine covers into a four-time chart-topping album artist, played his only UK date of 2025 at The O2 arena.
Shawn Mendes, the Canadian singer of “Señorita” with Camila Cabello, headlined The O2 arena in North Greenwich on Saturday 16 August 2025. It was the only UK date of his On the Road Again tour.
Mendes was born in Toronto in 1998 and raised in Pickering, Ontario. He learned guitar from YouTube tutorials at 13, and a Vine cover of a Justin Bieber song in 2013 brought his first audience.
He signed to Island Records and released Handwritten in 2015, which opened at the top of the US chart and carried “Stitches”, a UK number one. Wonder, in 2020, made him the youngest male artist to top the US album chart four times.
The 2022 tour that followed Wonder was cancelled for the sake of his mental health. Shawn, his 2024 album, turned to folk.
The O2 shows were his first arena shows since 2022. The set ran in five acts, with Shawn given an act of its own, and “In My Blood” closed the night as the encore. Niall Horan joined him on stage to sing “This Town”.
Maro, who represented Portugal at Eurovision in 2022, and Lubiana played support.
