Jan Blomqvist, the German singer and producer who performs his melodic electronica live, makes his KOKO debut in Camden on Friday 11 December 2026.
Blomqvist was born Jan Freter in Ahnsbeck in 1982 and began on guitar, the instrument he still writes on, playing in a punk band as a teenager. At nineteen he moved to Berlin to study aerospace engineering, then mathematics, and left both for music.
His first performance came at Tresor in 2008. In 2012 a video for “Something Says”, filmed on a rooftop above Alexanderplatz, carried his name well beyond the city.
His sound joins electronic beats to analogue synthesisers, piano and his own voice. His debut album, Remote Control, took him to Burning Man, Coachella and Tomorrowland in 2016, and his latest, Mute, came out in February 2025.
The KOKO date, in the Theatre, is billed as his full live format, with instruments and vocals over the electronic production. When he plays with his band, Christian Dammann is on drums and Felix Lehmann on keys.
