GoldFish Live at Ministry of Sound

Friday, 23 October 2026 Ministry of Sound · Elephant and Castle

The Cape Town duo who set saxophone, double bass and flute against house rhythms bring their live show to the Box for their first headline night at Ministry of Sound.

GoldFish, the Cape Town duo who won Best Dance Album at the South African Music Awards, headline Ministry of Sound in Elephant and Castle on Friday 23 October 2026.

Dominic Peters and David Poole met as jazz students at college and founded GoldFish in Cape Town. They set double bass, saxophone, flute and keyboards against samplers and synths.

Their debut album, Caught in the Loop, arrived in 2006. In 2009 they set a South African Music Awards record with eight nominations, and an MTV Africa Music Award for Best Pop followed in 2014.

Early on they opened for Fatboy Slim, Basement Jaxx, Faithless and Pete Tong. They have since played Glastonbury, Ultra and SXSW, and their sixth album, If Summer Was A Sound, came out in 2023.

Now based in San Diego, they still build their sound around instruments played in the room. Their first headline night there puts a jazz-trained band in the Box, in a club built around its sound system.

Alastair Lane, Richard Marshall, Dadoo and Mas Que Nada play support DJ sets on the night.
