Black Country, New Road play the London Coliseum with the Orchestra of English National Opera on Friday 13 November 2026, conducted by André de Ridder.
Black Country, New Road formed in Cambridge in 2018 and were briefly the most talked-about band in Britain: two albums in two years, For the First Time and Ants from Up There, both built out of saxophone, violin, klezmer inflections and long structures that behaved more like chamber music than rock. Then their singer Isaac Wood left, days before the second record came out, and most people assumed that was the end of it.
It was not. The remaining five — Tyler Hyde, Georgia Ellery, May Kershaw, Charlie Wayne and Luke Mark — rebuilt the band around three singers instead of one and released Forever Howlong in 2025, which is lighter, stranger and more English than anything before it. Georgia Ellery also plays in Jockstrap, May Kershaw writes at the piano, and the three-singer arrangement means the songs now change voice mid-way rather than staying with one narrator.
They play the London Coliseum on Friday 13 November 2026 with the Orchestra of English National Opera, curated and conducted by André de Ridder, who is the house’s music director designate and conducting one of his first things in the building under that title. It is the only date in the Sessions strand this season, the band’s only announced London show, and the orchestra is the house’s own rather than a hired one.
