Viajante87

Viajante87 is a basement cocktail bar at 87 Notting Hill Gate, 1,500 sq ft below street level, from Markus Thesleff, the restaurateur behind Los Mochis. It reopened in September 2023. The current menu follows the team's travels through Latin America, and the back bar holds more than 300 tequilas and mezcals.

Hamilford Design did the interiors. The walls are carved cork, the long bar is backlit recycled glass, and the room hangs work by the Mexican artists Oms Rocha and Tellaeche. Curved banquettes run around the main room, with a round seat built about the central column.

Resident DJs play at weekends, from Latin-inspired records to deep house and classic hip-hop. For events, the main room seats 80 or takes 95 standing, a VIP area beside the entrance takes 20 seated or 25 standing, and the whole bar can be taken on exclusive hire for up to 120. The events team writes its own drinks and canapé menus for each booking.
