/ About
Chef Jun Tanaka opened The Ninth on Charlotte Street in 2015, after years in the kitchens of Le Gavroche, The Square and The Restaurant Marco Pierre White. The cooking is French at heart with a strong Mediterranean accent: chargrilled meats, vegetable-led plates and the pain perdu regulars come back for. It holds a MICHELIN star, though the room wears it lightly. Exposed brick, tufted banquettes, clusters of hand-blown glass pendants and a scatter of copper wall pieces make for a warm Fitzrovia dining room rather than a hushed one.
For private events there are three options. The semi-private dining room seats up to 20 within the main restaurant; the first floor takes up to 40 for a self-contained hire; and the whole venue, bar included, holds up to 60. Each keeps the kitchen's seasonal menus and the attentive service that defines the ground floor, which makes it a natural fit for a milestone dinner, a company lunch or a celebration that wants very good food without ceremony.
