/ About
Harrods' oldest restaurant opened on the fourth floor in 1911 as the largest dining room in London, and in the 1920s its thés dansants drew the capital's fashionable set to dance between courses. After a long closure it returned in November 2024, restored by David Collins Studio: the Grade II listed shell — coffered ceiling frieze, lay light and wrought ironwork — sits within a scheme of amethyst velvet banquettes, an oak starburst floor and a canopy of some twenty-five crystal chandeliers, anchored by a mirrored cocktail bar in brass and Calacatta Viola marble.
The room changes character across the day. Afternoons bring a theatrical tea to a live pianist; evenings turn to a British menu overseen by chef Calum Franklin and a live band that revives the Jazz Age dinner dance. An all-weather terrace runs from cream tea and brunch through to cocktails, and a walnut-panelled private dining room seats intimate parties away from the main floor.
For private events the whole restaurant takes up to 114 seated, with the terrace and the private dining room available on their own. The dinner-dance heritage, the scale of the room and Harrods' own service make it a natural fit for celebrations, galas and receptions. Available for private hire by enquiry.
