/ About

The Fat Badger sits at the top of Golborne Road, in the corner building that looks down Portobello Road. Public House Group opened it at the end of 2024 with no listing, no sign beyond a painted badger and a phone number passed between friends. The pub floor is oak-panelled and oil-lamped, with an open fire, marble-topped tables and a standing live music programme.

The restaurant is one floor higher, and it is a different room entirely. Rough sawn oak lines the walls, dried bouquets hang from a cane ceiling, and a tan leather banquette runs the length of the room. George Williams and Beth O'Brien cook a set menu the chefs choose each day, built on British produce, much of it from the group's own market garden in the Cotswolds. MICHELIN added the room to its 2026 selection.

Take the restaurant whole and you get the floor: one family-style table seating up to 26, or separate tables for up to 32. It is small enough that the kitchen cooks for each table by hand, which is the argument for booking it exclusively rather than a corner of somewhere larger. Lunch hire runs Tuesday to Saturday, and anything else is by arrangement.
