Sucre

Fernando Trocca's Sucre brought Buenos Aires open-fire cooking to Soho in 2021, taking over the ground floor of a 300-year-old building on Great Marlborough Street that once housed the London College of Music. The former concert hall is the dining room: a high-ceilinged space under clusters of antique crystal chandeliers, with green velvet banquettes, kilim-patterned chairs, aged-plaster walls and a wall of black-framed windows behind which the wood ovens and asado grill run in full view. The kitchen leads with charcoal and flame, Argentine at heart with a Mediterranean accent, built for sharing.

Beneath the restaurant sits Downstairs at Sucre, a low-lit cocktail bar and lounge of exposed brick, stone pillars and original 18th-century features, redesigned by Victoria Vogel. It has its own bar, lounge seating and a DJ point, and works as a self-contained space for a drinks reception or a seated dinner apart from the main room. The upstairs restaurant takes exclusive hire for a seated dinner or a standing reception, and Sucre's events team handles both floors.

The whole address is walkable from Oxford Circus and Piccadilly Circus, and the late licence and in-house sound make it a natural fit for a DJ-led evening, from a corporate lunch through to a late private party.
