The Royal Thames Yacht Club has raced since 1775, which makes it the senior yacht club in the country and one of the oldest in the world. It has held the same corner of Knightsbridge since 1923, and the present clubhouse, rebuilt on the site of Hyde Park House, took occupation at the end of 1963. Ten event spaces run across two floors. The first floor holds the Coffee Room, the club's a la carte restaurant, named for the 18th-century London coffee rooms the Cumberland Fleet met in. It looks straight over Hyde Park and seats 104 for lunch or dinner. The Mountbatten Suite runs on from it, giving a combined room for 174 seated or 220 standing, and divides again by partition into the East End and Centre Rooms.
The ground floor is the social half. The Britannia Bar, known to members as George's Bar, is panelled in wood under the club burgee, with a ship's lantern to either side, and it leads onto the Deck, a timber terrace on the Hyde Park side kept usable by umbrellas and heaters. The Cumberland Bar and Quarterdeck sit a floor above, away from the Knightsbridge traffic. Smaller rooms carry the club's collections: the green Edinburgh Room hangs marine oils over one long table, and the Library and the Model Room line their walls with half-hull models.
The clubhouse is licensed for civil marriages and civil partnerships, and takes private dinners, receptions, seminars, away days and wedding breakfasts. Every private event must be sponsored by a member, and the Events Planning Manager arranges that sponsorship. A dress code applies throughout: a collared shirt at all times, and a jacket on the Quarterdeck, in the Cumberland Bar and in the Coffee Room after 19:00 on weekdays.

Coffee Room
PrivateThe club's main dining room on the first floor, named for the 18th-century London coffee rooms the Cumberland Fleet met in. Windows run the length of the Hyde Park side, and the room leads through to the Mountbatten Suite for a combined space of 174 seated or 220 standing.
Mountbatten Suite
PrivateA first-floor room over Hyde Park, taken on its own or opened into the Coffee Room for large receptions and formal dining. A partition divides it again into the East End and Centre Rooms.
Britannia Bar
PrivateThe ground-floor bar, known to members as George's Bar, panelled in wood under the club burgee. It takes canape receptions and pre-dinner drinks, opens onto the Deck, and extends into the adjoining Paget and Queenborough Rooms for larger numbers.
Edinburgh Room
PrivateA green room on the first floor hung with marine oils, set around one long table for formal lunches and dinners. It also works for pre-dinner drinks and for lectures, and joins the Cumberland Bar and Quarterdeck for a larger reception.
East End Room
PrivateOne of the two rooms the Mountbatten Suite divides into by partition. It suits small dinners and meetings.
Centre Room
PrivateThe second room the Mountbatten Suite divides into, with a view over Hyde Park. It suits lunches and dinners, and joins the Coffee Room for 116 at round tables.
Queenborough Room
PrivateA plain, well-lit ground-floor room for smaller meetings and boardroom sessions. It combines with the Paget Room, and with the Britannia Bar for larger receptions.
Britannia Deck
Semi PrivateA timber terrace running off the Britannia Bar along the Hyde Park side, with umbrellas and heaters. It is added to the Britannia Bar in fair weather, which takes that end of the ground floor to 170 standing; the club's 220 limit needs the Queenborough Room as well.
Cumberland Bar
Semi PrivateThe first-floor bar, which takes in the Quarterdeck and looks over Knightsbridge. Normally a members' area, it may be available for receptions and pre-dinner drinks on Friday evenings, Saturdays and Sundays.
Paget Room
PrivateA ground-floor meeting and lecture room with natural light. It combines with the Queenborough Room, and with the Britannia Bar and Deck for receptions of up to 220.
Library
PrivateA ground-floor board room for up to 12, with a Smart TV that takes a laptop for presentations and document viewing.
