/ About

The Lansdowne Club occupies part of Lansdowne House, the 18th-century mansion Robert Adam built off Berkeley Square. It has run as a private members' club since 1935, one of the first in London to admit men and women on equal terms, and keeps a year-round calendar of dining, sport and social events behind its stone facade on Fitzmaurice Place.

Its event rooms move between two centuries. The Grade II* listed Ballroom is the grand room, a Robert Adam interior under a gilded vaulted ceiling ringed by wrought-iron minstrel galleries, licensed for civil ceremonies and large enough to seat 190 for dinner or hold 200 for a reception. The Shelburne Room is a daylit reception suite with its own ante room; the Findlay and Sun Rooms are panelled Art Deco spaces overlooking the courtyard; and the Library hosts a chef's table presented by executive head chef Henry Brosi.

A secluded Courtyard, covered by a retractable roof, runs across the back of the club and opens for receptions through the year, a rare thing this close to Bond Street. With its own catering, bedrooms and an indoor pool on site, the house suits a private dinner or celebration that carries late into the evening across connecting rooms.
