Royal Lancaster London stands on Lancaster Terrace with Hyde Park on its doorstep, an eighteen-storey mid-century tower that opened in 1967 and reopened in November 2017 after an £80 million rebuild by Studio Proof. The work reinstated the hotel's original name and remodelled the whole frontage: an eight-metre glazed façade now opens onto a double-height reception, and a staircase of white Carrara marble climbs out of the lobby. It is family-owned and independent, and 411 bedrooms sit above the event floors, which matters for a party whose guests are staying the night.
The scale is the reason to come. Two pillar-free ballrooms sit at the centre of the offer, each with its own entrance. The Nine Kings Suite is the larger: chandeliers that lower on demand, natural light through the day, a movable wall that opens into an adjoining foyer, and room for 1,100 at dinner or 1,500 standing. The Westbourne Suite runs to 10,850 square feet, reached by a sweeping marble staircase from the lobby, with built-in LED lighting and a multi-zoned audio system already installed. Both publish three-phase power, recessed rigging bars and DMX infrastructure, so a full production load-in is routine rather than an imposition.
Around the ballrooms are seven smaller rooms, most of them looking over Hyde Park: the Beech and Oak suites with floor-to-ceiling windows and blackout, the wood-panelled Boardroom, the Chestnut for private dining, and the Senses Room, a ten-seat tasting room used to preview an event's menu before it is signed off. Nipa Thai, the hotel's teak-lined Thai restaurant, takes exclusive parties of up to 55. The hotel publishes no music or licensing policy, so confirm finish times and amplified sound with the events team at the outset.

Nine Kings Suite
PrivateThe larger of the two pillar-free ballrooms, and the room the hotel is known for. Chandeliers lower from the ceiling to change the register of the space, natural light reaches both the main floor and the foyer during the day, and a revealing wall lifts to fold the adjoining foyer into the room. It has its own entrance and private reception area, a fixed stage, and takes 1,100 for dinner, 1,050 for a dinner-dance or 1,500 standing.
Westbourne Suite
PrivateA second pillar-free ballroom of 10,850 square feet, reached by a sweeping marble staircase from the lobby and served by its own entrance. Built-in LED lighting, ceiling sparkle lights and a multi-zoned audio system are already installed, with load-bearing bars recessed into the ceiling and DMX infrastructure for a full production rig. It seats 900 for dinner, 750 for a dinner-dance, and holds 1,500 standing.
Beech Suite
PrivateFloor-to-ceiling windows over Hyde Park give this one its character. It is quiet and set apart, and divides into three separate areas or opens as a single room. It takes 90 for lunch or dinner and 150 for a reception.
Oak Suite
PrivateSits on a private corridor, which keeps an event to itself. Floor-to-ceiling windows bring in daylight and black out fully when a room needs to go dark. It works as one space or splits into two or three, seating 80 for dinner and holding 100 for a reception.
Nipa Thai
Exclusive HireThe hotel's Thai restaurant, lined in teak brought from Thailand and run by an all-Thai kitchen under a head chef who has held the pass for more than twenty-five years. It is taken exclusively for parties of 40 to 55, and smaller groups can book it for private dining.
Chestnut Suite
PrivateA contemporary room used as readily for private dining as for a presentation. It seats 30 at table and holds 50 for drinks.
Boardroom
