ROKA Mayfair

ROKA Mayfair opened in February 2014 on North Audley Street, the third London outpost of Rainer Becker's robatayaki restaurant after the original on Charlotte Street. A flaming robata grill sits at the centre of the room, the kitchen built around it so the theatre of slow-grilled skewer cooking carries across the whole dining floor. The look is contemporary Japanese, all natural woods and an open kitchen, a few steps from Mount Street and Grosvenor Square in the quieter reaches of Mayfair.

For private events the Adzuki dining room sits at the far end of the restaurant, reached through two open walkways that let the atmosphere of the main room drift in. It seats up to 24 on a single long table taken exclusively, or 16 across round tables when hired semi-privately. The outdoor terrace holds standing drinks receptions of up to 70, and the main restaurant hosts smaller receptions alongside its group dining. A bar runs a seasonal cocktail list next to the sake and shochu the group is known for.

It has held its place among Mayfair's dependable scene restaurants for a decade, the sort of room that suits a birthday, a corporate dinner or a launch equally well. Group reservations and canape menus are handled by an in-house events team.
