/ About
Porchester Hall opened in 1929 on Porchester Road as Paddington's public hall, built alongside the Turkish Baths and the library. It is Grade II* listed, and the Art Deco interior has been kept largely intact: a marble entrance, an ornamental staircase with bronze banisters under a crystal chandelier, and a Main Hall panelled in English oak and walnut, hung with crimson velvet and lit by gold-leaf chandeliers.
The Main Hall is the event space. It seats up to 450 for dinner and holds up to 650 standing, with an oak-panelled stage at its head beneath an Art Deco skylight and backstage rooms for suppliers and performers. The hall has a long record as a concert room, with Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse and Ed Sheeran among those who have played it, and it has been used for fashion shows and film shoots.
The Small Hall takes around 50 guests as a reception or breakout room beside a Main Hall event, and the Duchess of York Suite and the Blue Room serve as preparation and supplier rooms. Hire is run by the operator's events team, with a recommended caterer list, and the hall is available for private hire by enquiry.
