/ About

Pennard House sits among 80 acres of apple orchards at East Pennard, near Glastonbury and fifteen minutes from Castle Cary station. The Jacobean core went up between 1600 and 1620, the east and west wings followed in 1815, and the house has stayed in the Dearden family throughout. Harry and Georgina run it now as a family home that is let whole, and the house describes itself as the perfect place for private parties, milestone birthdays and anniversaries.

The party happens in the Coach House, an 18th-century stone stable block across the yard with lift access. Upstairs, a beamed dining room seats up to 120. Downstairs there is the house's own bar and bartender, snug booths and an extra-large dance floor, with sound and lighting fitted throughout, and the two floors together take 180 for the evening. A personal event director is assigned to each booking, and hosts may bring their own band and suppliers.

In the main house, the dining room lays supper for 26, the library and drawing rooms serve pre-dinner drinks, and a Victorian conservatory refurbished in 2025 takes drinks receptions. The Napier Room, the indoor ceremony room, doubles for talks and classes. Thirteen bedrooms sleep 26, so a party can run as a weekend with breakfast in the dining room the next morning. The house also takes weddings, corporate away days and retreats.
