One Aldwych

One Aldwych occupies a 1907 Edwardian banking hall on the corner where the Strand meets the Aldwych, a few minutes from Covent Garden and the river. The Gordon Campbell Gray hotel reopened in late February 2025 after a refurbishment and remains one of the most quietly characterful independent five-stars in central London, known for its art, its flowers and a chlorine-free subterranean pool that runs beneath the building. For private events the draw is range: the hotel keeps several distinct spaces that suit an intimate, music-led gathering rather than a hotel ballroom.

Downstairs at One Aldwych is the room to know. It has its own street entrance and a grand copper staircase that drops guests into a private bar before opening onto a large open-plan lower-ground floor, finished in dark wood, red leather and sculptural lighting. The flat floor and enclosed basement setting make it the natural choice for a celebration that wants a DJ and dancing late into the evening, seating up to 60 for dinner or holding 120 for a standing reception. On the floors above, the ground-floor Library is a calmer, daylight-filled lounge for receptions of up to 40, the mezzanine Press and Type Rooms convert between boardroom, private dining for up to 40 and a 50-guest drinks reception, and the navy-leather Screening Room seats 30 for private film nights, launches and presentations.

Food and drink come from the hotel's own kitchens, the events team handles set menus and receptions in-house, and the central WC2 location puts the venue within walking distance of the West End theatres and the City. The Lobby Bar, the hotel's well-known double-height cocktail room off the main entrance, is documented and bookable separately.
