Lurra

Lurra is a Basque grill on Seymour Place, a quiet Marylebone corner it has held since 2015 with its sister restaurant Donostia across the road. The name means "land" in Basque, and the kitchen is built around the erretegia tradition of the region's wood and charcoal grills. Aged Galician Blond beef from retired dairy cows, whole wild turbot, grilled octopus with piquillo peppers and a burnt Basque cheesecake come off the fire in a pale, light-filled room of marble tables, blond wood and brass.

For private events the restaurant works across four distinct areas. The first-floor room, lined with framed fish prints and backlit shelves under a run of tall windows, seats 36 around a long marble table and takes 46 standing. A covered, heated courtyard adds a year-round outdoor space, and a semi-private front area suits smaller gatherings, while the whole building can be taken exclusively for up to 95 seated or 120 standing.

The wine list runs deep on indigenous Spanish and Basque grapes, with names like Vega Sicilia and Pingus alongside small independent growers. The rooms are calm and daylit rather than club-like, which makes Lurra a natural fit for a long lunch or an evening dinner that opens up into a party once the tables clear.
