/ About
Libertine occupies the Fitzrovia rooms at 4 Winsley Street that Chinawhite made famous, a few steps from Oxford Circus. The brand moved here in 2009 and kept the celebrity draw while dropping the old oriental theming; the club now reads as glossy black and gold, a run of interlinked rooms wrapped around a central dancefloor. Rita Ora, Niall Horan and Drake have all passed through, and it stays a fixture of the London Fashion Week party circuit and the West End footballer set.
The main Chamber carries a 50-foot LED wall behind the DJ booth, booth seating and low tables set around the floor, and customisable mood lighting; solid gloss screens can divide it down for smaller nights. Hidden behind the Chamber sits the VIP room, encased in gold honeycomb tiles and matching mirror, while upstairs The Code runs its own long bar, dancefloor and DJ booth under an eclectic art-covered ceiling. The Mao Rooms lounge conceals a DJ setup behind a wall panel, turning a velvet-sofa salon into a club room when the night calls for it.
Music is hip-hop, R&B and commercial house from resident and visiting DJs, and the licence runs to 3am. This is a room built for a late, high-energy night rather than a seated dinner: birthdays, launches and label parties are the natural fit, and the whole venue takes around 500 when hired privately.
