/ About

Tape London sits behind a discreet door on Hanover Square, a few steps from Oxford Circus, and has spent the past decade as Mayfair's most name-dropped late-night room. It grew out of a recording studio, and that heritage still runs through the place: a built-in stage for live performances, a recording suite off the main floor, and walls hung with music memorabilia rather than the usual club gloss. The guest list has long read like a festival bill, with the room hosting the kind of artists who turn an after-party into the story everyone talks about the next morning.

The main room is built for music. A central dancefloor runs the length of the space toward a stage framed by the venue's neon insignia, with banquette booths stepping up on either side and a resident DJ booth set among lit columns. The lighting rig and club-grade sound system are the reason the room reads as a performance space first and a lounge second, and the layout takes a private takeover well: clear sightlines to the stage, generous booth seating, and a bar that runs the back wall. After hours on Fridays and Saturdays the connected Little Tape opens as an intimate after-party, while the studio is available by arrangement for sessions and showcases.

For a private DJ event this is one of the easier rooms in Mayfair to programme. The decks, the dancefloor and the late licence are already in place, the entrance is private, and the team runs corporate and private hires regularly. It rewards a confident, high-energy booking: hip-hop, R&B and Afrobeats are the house language, but the room takes whatever a guest DJ brings to it.
