/ About
Kahani sits on a quiet corner opposite Cadogan Hall, a few steps from Sloane Square, where chef Peter Joseph cooks the contemporary Indian food that made his name. Joseph spent fourteen years at Tamarind in Mayfair, latterly as head chef, before opening Kahani as his first solo restaurant in 2018. The kitchen leans on the robata grill and tandoor, pairing British seasonal produce with the spicing of his native Tamil Nadu.
The room is low-lit and jewel-toned: blue velvet seating, fringed chandeliers, embossed plaster walls and a peacock motif that runs through the design, with a cocktail bar along one side. Upstairs, the Peacock Room is a private dining room for up to fourteen, finished in royal blue velvet and curtained off from the floor below for private dinners, business meetings and celebrations. The whole restaurant can be taken exclusively, with Joseph tailoring the menu to the table.
