/ About
Jang occupies the first-floor mezzanine of the Royal Exchange, the Grade I listed building Queen Victoria opened in 1844 on the site of London's first centre for trading stocks. The room runs the length of the arcade beneath stone arches and looks down into the courtyard. Deep red velvet and low table lamps sit against the pale stone, and the Exchange's Victorian murals are a few steps along the same floor.
Head chef Dana Choi studied Korean royal cuisine in her native Gwangju before cooking in London at The Square and at Jinjuu. Her menu draws on Korean and Japanese technique using British produce, with a dedicated sushi counter and Korean barbecue cooked at the table. A cocktail list runs alongside the sake and champagne.
The restaurant takes private events across the whole floor, from a seated dinner on one long table to a standing reception, and Chef Choi's team writes an event menu for each. Cocktail and canape receptions are part of the offer. Jang shares the mezzanine with its sister bar, Engel, so the two can be taken together for a larger party, and the Royal Exchange's inner courtyard can be added at weekends.
