/ About
Named for the Mayan goddess of the moon, Ixchel brings modern Mexican cooking and a serious agave programme to the King's Road. The dining room runs on a sharing concept from chef Ximena Gayosso Gonzalez, built around a robata grill, while bar manager Manuel Lema's cocktails and one of Europe's deeper tequila and mezcal collections anchor the drinks. The interiors lean into the goddess theme: terracotta plasterwork, arched booths, woven pendants, hand-painted murals and warm, low lighting across two floors.
Music is part of the fabric here. The Luna y Fuego sessions bring live percussionists, vocalists and DJs into the room from 8pm, and the lower floor is built for events, with its own private bar and a resident DJ setup. That downstairs space, which takes up to 80 guests, has hosted brand launches and full-venue takeovers for the likes of Estée Lauder, Mint Velvet and American Express, with the lounge, arched booths and a long sharing table giving it real flexibility for a late-running party.
For smaller gatherings, the semi-private sharing tables seat around 20 against the restaurant's most striking interiors, and the ground-floor Ligera Table works for daytime events in natural light. Late licensing runs to 1am on Friday and Saturday, which makes it a genuine option for a DJ-led celebration in the heart of Chelsea.
