/ About

Gauthier Soho occupies a Georgian townhouse on Romilly Street, a quiet corner of Soho behind a black door and a discreet GAUTHIER sign. Chef-patron Alexis Gauthier opened it in 2010 as a French fine-dining room, and in 2021 turned the whole kitchen plant-based, making it one of London's most established vegan tasting-menu restaurants. The cooking stayed serious; only the larder changed.

What sets the house apart for private events is that it is a real townhouse, not a single dining room. Spaces run across four floors, each with its own character: the bright first-floor Grand Salon under high ceilings and original Georgian sash windows, the ground-floor Petit Salon with its giltwood mirror and marble fireplace, a second-floor Games Room hung with vintage prints around a 1950s arcade machine, the marshmallow-pink Hidden Room, and a bijou Chef's Room beside the kitchen. Period fireplaces, sunburst mirrors and an eclectic art collection give every room a domestic, collected feel rather than a corporate one.

The whole house can be taken exclusively, with the rooms used together for a progressive evening across the floors. For an intimate event it is a rare central-London setting: a series of self-contained rooms, sound held within their own walls, suited to a relaxed dinner that carries on into the evening with a DJ once the tables are cleared. Available for private hire room by room or as a whole.
