Galvin La Chapelle occupies St Botolph's Hall, a Grade II listed former school building off Bishopsgate in Spitalfields, on the City's eastern edge. Chris and Jeff Galvin opened the restaurant here in 2009, and its dining room remains one of London's most architecturally striking: stone columns, soaring arched windows and a marble-topped bar set beneath a mezzanine gallery. The kitchen cooks in a French Mediterranean register and holds a Michelin star.
For private events the hall divides into distinct spaces. The Arch seats up to 27 beneath one of the stone arches, screened for privacy while keeping the main room's atmosphere. The Gallery, a mezzanine reached by its own stair above the restaurant, takes an intimate 16. Taken whole, the restaurant hires exclusively for up to 150 seated, the arches and gallery reading as one grand space.
The scale of the hall and its heritage bones suit milestone celebrations, private dinners and corporate hospitality. A dedicated events team handles private bookings.
