Ten Trinity Square was built in 1922 as the headquarters of the Port of London Authority, Edwin Cooper's Portland stone statement of a city that ran the world's shipping. Four Seasons took it on in 2017. The building's set pieces survived the conversion intact: a domed rotunda at the centre of the ground floor, now the Rotunda Bar & Lounge, where fluted columns rise to an Art Deco glazed dome above an inlaid marble floor.
The second floor holds the event rooms. The UN Ballroom is the one with the history — the inaugural reception of the United Nations General Assembly was held here in 1946 — and it has been restored to its walnut panelling, Corinthian columns and crystal chandeliers. Next to it, Merchants Hall sits under its own dome, and a 96-square-metre pre-function space links the two, which is how the hotel reaches its published ceiling of 300 for a single event. Two penthouses on the seventh floor open onto terraces facing Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.
Dining is in-house across three rooms: Mei Ume for Chinese and Japanese cooking, the steak-led Cooper's Cut, and the Rotunda for cocktails and afternoon tea. All three take private hire, and Cooper's Cut can be bought out whole. The events team handles the building's grander rooms directly.
