/ About

Andaz London Liverpool Street occupies the former Great Eastern Hotel, built in 1884 by Charles Barry Jr for the Great Eastern Railway and standing directly against Liverpool Street station. Hyatt bought the building in 2006 and reopened it the following year as the UK's first Andaz, keeping the original marble stairwells, wrought-iron balustrades and arched windows intact under a five-star fit-out.

The event floors run from a 1912 Masonic Temple, a Grade II-listed lodge room with a blue and gold zodiac dome and its original thrones, up to the 1901 Ballroom and the larger Great Eastern Suite, the hotel's biggest function room and the one that takes a full buyout. Around them sit a run of smaller Victorian suites, Bishopsgate and Chancery among them, with the original cornicing and fireplaces still in place.

Downstairs, Rake's runs a café bar by day and turns over to resident DJs on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights, with a quieter parlour set back behind it. Lady Abercorn's keeps its own wood-panelled pub room to one side, and Eastway serves as the hotel's everyday restaurant. Private hire runs through the hotel's own events team.
