/ About
Fonda is Santiago Lastra's second London restaurant, a livelier counterpart to his Michelin-starred KOL a few streets north. Named for the family-run market kitchens of Mexico, it opened on Heddon Street in October 2024 and reads regional Mexican cooking through British seasonal produce. The room runs bright and busy across two floors, dressed in light wood, trailing foliage and hand-glazed ceramic tiles.
The interiors, by A_nrd Studio with Mexico City designer Fernando Laposse, treat the space as one continuous piece of Mexican craft. Laposse's patchwork panels, dyed with cochineal and marigold, hang like oversized party flags; his pink agave-fibre sloth watches over the greenery; ceramics by MA Estudio run throughout. A mezcal and tequila list anchors the bar.
For events, Sala Rosa is the pink-toned private dining room downstairs, with its own bar and sound system and space for a DJ. The whole restaurant takes exclusive hire for larger celebrations, and a planted terrace opens off the main floor. It suits a birthday, a launch or a long dinner that carries on late.
