Dinings SW3 is the Chelsea home of chef-patron Masaki Sugisaki, a small Japanese restaurant tucked into Walton House on a quiet mews off Walton Street. The cooking pairs classical Japanese technique with British seasonal produce: an omakase-led kitchen, a marble sushi counter where the chefs work in the open, and a menu built around the principle of omotenashi, or wholehearted hospitality. It trades on intimacy rather than scale.

For private events the room to know is Kurabu, a secluded lounge on the floor above that looks down over the restaurant through a run of round windows. Orange velvet banquettes, gilded fretwork screens and low lighting give it the feel of a private drawing room, and it takes everything from a quiet dinner to a standing reception. In warmer months a planted garden terrace off the back can be reserved on its own, and the whole restaurant is available for exclusive hire, by the full or half day.

The bar runs a seasonal cocktail list alongside a sommelier-led wine list, and the kitchen tailors omakase and set menus to the occasion. It suits a milestone dinner, a launch, or a considered corporate evening where the cooking carries the night.
