/ About

On the fifth floor of Harrods, Chai Wu has served modern Chinese cooking to Knightsbridge since 2015. The room is dark and theatrical: hand-painted cranes take flight across lacquered walls, a backlit circular screen anchors one corner, and an open kitchen and raw bar run the length of the space beneath a row of pendant lights. Burgundy leather, warm timber and brass give it the polish the address expects.

The kitchen draws on the five elements of Chinese philosophy, running from dim sum through to Beijing duck carved at the table. For private events there are two enclosed rooms. The Pavilion seats up to sixteen beneath a mural of cranes; the smaller Alcove holds eight around a single round table with its own server. The whole restaurant is available for exclusive hire, and the kitchen caters for Halal and vegetarian guests.
